Be Better

Be Better

There's a reason why most diets don't work and gym memberships spike after the new year and end in February.   Everybody knows it, it's just not actually talked about. Expectations are too high and the towel is thrown in when near immediate results aren't there.

The other side of the coin I think gets it wrong too.  The quote “If you expect nothing from anybody, you're never disappointed” is kind of nuts to me too.  I get the sentiment, but who wants to expect nothing?  As with most things, I think the balance is in the middle:  have realistic expectations and a focus on progress over perfection.

The new Nike short honoring Kobe on Mamba Day (8/24, Kobe's two numbers), is the best ad I've ever seen.  Not just because I love Kobe and am still feeling his passing.  And not because it was narrated by fellow LA legend and one of, if not the greatest rapper of our time, Kendrick Lamar.  But because of the message of Kendrick's refrain:  'Just be better."

Being better takes real work and is not a finish line endeavor, but instead one of consistency.  "Do the simple stuff right." Kobe says in the ad and "Wake up every single day to get better today than you were yesterday."  Consistency. Is. Key.

And it's the same concept with your everyday wellness.  There are no cheat codes or magic formulas.  Not even a Favor shot.  It alone will not save you.  But a shot of Apple Cider Vinegar mixed with other functional ingredients, will provide applicable health benefits and improve your overall wellness.  It will specifically improve your gut health and make you feel better.  And when you feel better, you can be better.  So again, "just be better."
